INTRODUCTION

My name is Philippe Lauga. I was born in 1964. I'm not a sailor but I've always been a merchant ships lover. I live in France, in Bayonne, a small merchant port on the Atlantic coast, in the south west of the country, near the spannish frontier. I'm a professor in a technical college. One of my hobbies is photographing merchant ships. I like old general cargo vessels with derricks, built in the 60's and the 70's. I especially like a russian class of general cargo ships, built between 1972 to 1984, usually called "Pioner Moskvy" class. I photograph ships in Bayonne and in Pasajes, a spanish port in the Basque coast, also in Istanbul, on the Bosphorus, this fantastic and superb strait, shiplover's paradise. I have two children I love, I like reading (French literature, Fred Vargas, Simenon, etc. Scandinavian's literature, Mankell, Indridason, etc.), cinema (Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner, Tom Hanks, Madeleine Stowe, Lino Ventura, Jean-Pierre Jeunet,...), music (Deep Purple with Ian Gillan, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd, Daniel Balavoine, Antonio Vivaldi, Dvorak and others), french food and red wines, my friends, writting, painting, and bullfighting.. Mon nom est Philippe Lauga. Je suis né en 1964. Je ne suis pas un marin, mais j'ai toujours été un amoureux de navires marchands. Je vis en France, à Bayonne, un port de commerce situé sur la côte Atlantique, dans le sud-ouest du pays, près de la frontière Espagnole. Je suis professeur dans un lycée professionnel. Un de mes hobbies est de photographier les navires marchands. J'aime les vieux cargos avec des mats de charge, construit dans les années 60 et les années 70. J'aime particulièrement une série de cargos russes, construits entre 1972 à 1984, généralement appelé classe "Pioner Moskvy". Je photographie les navires à Bayonne et à Pasajes, un port espagnol de la côte basque, également à Istanbul, sur le Bosphore, ce détroit fantastique et superbe, paradis des shiplovers.
