The History of the shipping company FESCO (Far Eastern Shipping Company) begins with the first trip of the steamer MOSKVA in April 1880, between Odessa and Vladivostok. FESCO is now the largest shipping company in the Russian Federation. Despite the current crisis, which particularly affects the Russian shipping companies, FESCO still has a fleet of 52 units consisting in general cargo ships, container ships, bulk carriers, Ro-Ro, supply vessels and ice-breakers, some nuclear-powered. The most frequently ports visited are those of the eastern front of Russia, Japan, Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand and the U.S. west coast on the Pacific Ocean. In recent years, FESCO tries to open new lines and expand its business around Western Europe. A partnership agreement has been even signed with the CMA-CGM. All this explains why the freighter IGOR ILINSKIY registered in the distant Russian port of Vladivostok called Bayonne port, between Saturday 24 and Wednesday, July 28, 2010.

IGOR ILINSKIY has been built in 1990 in Bilbao. She is part of a serie of eight units, built by Astilleros Reunidos del Nervion in Bilbao, for Russia. We found five sisterships in the FESCO shipping Company : IGOR ILINSKIY and ABAKAN, SINEGORSK, VYSOKOGORSK, YELENA SHATROVA.

IGOR ILINSKIY arrived in Bayonne in the end of the afternoon, from Damietta (Egypt), with 6736 tons of natural phosphates.
